Baby Showers, Baby Sprinkles, and Sip and See Parties

Celebrating Parenthood

Becoming a parent is an incredible journey filled with excitement, anticipation, and joy. Celebrating this special milestone with loved ones is a cherished tradition in many cultures. Baby showers, baby sprinkles, and sip and see parties are three popular ways to honor expecting or new parents.

Each of these celebrations offers a unique experience, catering to different stages of parenthood.

Let’s explore each type of event to help you decide which one suits your preferences best.

Baby Showers

Baby showers are traditional pre-birth celebrations held to honor expectant mothers. These events are typically organized by family members or close friends and offer an opportunity to "shower" the mom-to-be with gifts and love.

Baby showers revolve around the expectant mother and her needs, ensuring she feels supported and cared for during this transformative time.

Guests bring a wide range of baby essentials and gifts, helping the parents-to-be prepare for their newborn's arrival.

Baby showers often include fun games and activities that promote bonding and create memorable experiences for everyone involved. Here are some of our favorite baby shower games.

Diaper Changing Race - Set up diaper changing stations with dolls or stuffed animals and have guests compete to see who can change a diaper the fastest. Provide diapers, wipes, and onesies. To make it more exciting, blindfold those who are playing. This is guaranteed to bring some laughter-filled moments!

How Big Is Her Bump - Pass around a yarn, string, or ribbon and a pair of scissors. Each party guest will cut the yarn to the length of what they think the size of the mom-to-be’s belly is. The person with the yard that is closest to the size of the mom’s belly wins a prize.

Baby Photo Match-Up - Ask each guest to bring a baby photo of themselves. Display the photos on a board or wall and have everyone guess which photo belongs to each guest. This game not only encourages interaction but also sparks conversations and reminiscing about childhood memories.

Pick A Name For The Baby - Choosing a baby name is hard! Ask each guests to write a baby name suggestion on a piece of paper and place the names in a jar. The parents-to-be can take turns reading the names out loud. There are always some out of the world names that get thrown out and provides for lots of laughs.

Try to aim for a balance between fun and meaningful interactions to create a memorable baby shower experience for everyone involved.

Baby Sprinkles

Baby sprinkles, also known as sprinkle showers, are similar to baby showers but tend to be smaller and are typically held for parents who are expecting their second or subsequent child. Baby sprinkles are usually more low-key compared to traditional baby showers.

Baby sprinkles tend to have a more relaxed vibe, focusing less on elaborate decorations and formalities. This makes them ideal for parents who want a more intimate gathering with close friends and family.

Since the parents likely already have baby essentials from their previous child, baby sprinkles often involve gifts that are more practical or personalized for the new addition to the family. Practical baby sprinkle gifts include diapers, wipes, bottles, and other things that won't be left over from previous children.

Sip and See Parties

Sip and see parties are typically held after the baby's arrival. These celebrations are sometimes referred to as 100 Days of Life Party, 100 Day Celebration, Meet the Baby Party, Post-Baby Shower, Postpartum Party, After Baby Shower, or Welcome Baby Shower. These parties allow friends and family to meet the newborn. These events are becoming increasingly popular and offer a chance for parents to introduce their bundle of joy to their loved ones.

Sip and see parties focus on celebrating the newborn. These parties provide an opportunity for guests to shower the baby with love, blessings, and affection.

There a few things you may want to keep in mind when planning a sip and see. The timing for planning a sip and see party soon after the baby's arrival can be challenging, as parents may need some time to adjust to their new routine and recover from childbirth. In addition, attending a party with a newborn can also be physically and emotionally demanding for the parents, especially if they haven't had much rest. Around the 3 month mark is a great time to host a sip and see party.

Baby showers, baby sprinkles, and sip and see parties are all wonderful ways to celebrate the journey of parenthood. Each event offers its own unique characteristics and considerations. Whether you prefer an extravagant baby shower, the relaxed nature of a baby sprinkle, or the joy of introducing your newborn at a sip and see party, the most important thing is to create a memorable experience that reflects your desires as a growing family.

Party Themes

Planning a baby celebration with a fun and creative theme adds an extra touch of excitement to the event. Here are some fun baby shower themes to consider:

  1. Oh, Baby, It's a Fiesta! - Celebrate the upcoming arrival with a festive Mexican fiesta theme. Decorate the event venue with vibrant colors, sombreros, and cacti. Serve delicious Mexican cuisine, such as tacos, nachos, and churros. Add a piñata for an extra dose of fun.

  2. Ready to Pop - Embrace the anticipation of the baby's arrival with a "Ready to Pop" theme. Incorporate popcorn into the decorations and food, including flavored popcorn varieties and popcorn-based snacks. Use bubble-themed decorations and party favors to highlight the "popping" element.

  3. Baby Bookworm - Celebrate the love for books and reading with a "Baby Bookworm" theme. Use book-themed decorations and incorporate literary elements into the décor, such as book page banners or quotes. Ask guests to bring their favorite children's book as a gift.

Have fun and let your creativity shine while personalizing the banquet hall or event space to reflect the expectant parents' interests and style. Need more ideas for fun party themes? We have a list of over 100 party themes.

“We had our baby shower here, and it went off smoothly. The owner checked in on us throughout the event, we had a few last minute changes and call outs and a delay with the caterers and it was all taken in stride. Very helpful, understanding staff with so much going on. Plenty of space, cool lighting, and sound system. They had various size packages to pick from, I couldn't have asked for more.”
